Our Annual Holiday Bazaar will be held on December 15th from 9am-2pm. Students will able to purchase crafts, white elephant items & baked goods. If anyone would like to donate backed goods or gently used items, please drop them off at the school.

Sarah Perdue was recognized at Maryland's Annual Teacher of the Year Gala

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) held its 27th Annual Teacher of the Year Gala at Martin’s West in Baltimore on Friday October 27. The gala was held to honor the contributions of all 24 local Teachers of the Year. Among the 24 teachers was Somerset County’s Sarah Perdue who teaches art at Princess Anne Elementary School. Perdue earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting and graphic design in 2004 at Salisbury University in Salisbury. She also holds a bachelor's degree in psychology. In 2007, she earned a Master of Arts degree in art education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. She was accompanied to the event by family, friends, UMES officials, and Somerset County Public Schools educators, administrators and officials.
Joshua Carroll, a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) teacher at Anne Arundel County’s South River High School, was named the 2017-2018 Maryland Teacher of the Year.

Barn Hill Animal Preserve Presentation

Barn Hill Preserve's mobile program consists of a 45-minute oral presentation on LIVE animal ambassadors. The program offers students the unique experience to get up close and personal with animals they may have never seen before! Including a baby kangaroo, a hedgehog, & snakes. In 2016, 4th grade Teacher Mrs. Brown organized a carbon monoxide awareness relay in honor of the Todd family, who perished in their home due to carbon monoxide poisoning in 2015. Five of the seven children were students at Princess Anne Elementary: Ty'keria (5th grade), Ty'Nijuiza (4th grade), Ty'Niah (3rd grade), Zhi'Heem (1st grade) & Ty'Breyia (Kindergarten). The walkathon garnered over $2000 through student & community donations. The funds were used to purchase carbon monoxide detectors for the homes of students without them & to purchase "buddy benches” for the playground. The garden materials were donated by PAE custodian Mr. Ralph Taylor.

*UPDATE*PAES Relay for Life Fundraising Campaign raised a total of $5,283!

Relay For Life is a community based fundraising event of the American Cancer Society. Each year, more than 5,000 Relay For Life events take place in over twenty countries. Events are held in local communities, campus universities and in virtual worlds. As the American Cancer Society's most successful fundraiser and the organization's signature event, the mission of Relay For Life is to raise funds to improve cancer survival, decrease the incidence of cancer, and improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their caretakers.
