S.M.A.R.T. Night Fun!

PAES paint night was a success! 130 people were in attendance. Science, Math, Reading & Technology were incorporated into the festivities, making our event S.M.A.R.T. Students & Parents led by Mrs. Perdue, painted a picture based on the book, Snowmen all year. Students read along with Mrs. Wagganor while waiting for their painting to dry. Kindergarten Lunch & Learn

Kindergarten parents were invited to have a "Lunch & Learn" session with our Kindergarten Teachers. During the lunch, Parents were given information about their students lessons & strategies used to teach those lessons. Parents received a lot of information to help their students at home. Sarah Perdue was recognized at Maryland's Annual Teacher of the Year Gala

The Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) held its 27th Annual Teacher of the Year Gala at Martin’s West in Baltimore on Friday October 27. The gala was held to honor the contributions of all 24 local Teachers of the Year. Among the 24 teachers was Somerset County’s Sarah Perdue who teaches art at Princess Anne Elementary School. Perdue earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting and graphic design in 2004 at Salisbury University in Salisbury. She also holds a bachelor's degree in psychology. In 2007, she earned a Master of Arts degree in art education at the University of Maryland Eastern Shore in Princess Anne. She was accompanied to the event by family, friends, UMES officials, and Somerset County Public Schools educators, administrators and officials.
Joshua Carroll, a Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) teacher at Anne Arundel County’s South River High School, was named the 2017-2018 Maryland Teacher of the Year.
